This antibiotic reduces the synthesis of the cell wall of bacteria, is a good bactericide
How to. Use:-
Respiratory tract infections,
pneumonitis,
bronchitis,
gingivitis (inflammation of gums),
skin and soft tissue infections,
gonorrhea,
syphilis,
otitis media, urinary-genital tract infections.
Side effects
diarrhoea
Nausea
vomiting
rash,
pseudomembranous colitis if taken for too long.
Drug interaction– There is a possibility of kidney disorder if cephalexin is taken with frusemide or aminoglycoside.
Special precautions- During lactation Give the medicine carefully, it can cause kidney disorder. Use with caution in early pregnancy.
Can be given to children as per doctor’s advice. Above 60 years of age- There is no problem in using the medicine.
Cephalexin dose for adults all patient
250-1000 mg three to four times.
Children-25-100mg/kg daily, in four equal doses.
6-12 years-250mg three times.
1-5 years-125 mg three times.
Newborns (up to 1 year of age)-125 mg twice.
